Overview
Jill Sinatra graduated magna cum laude from Westminster College with a degree in English and Political Science. She attended law school at The Washington and Lee University School of Law. During law school, Jill worked as a law clerk for Pennsylvania Superior Court Judge Maureen Lally-Green and as an intern at the United States Attorney's Office in Roanoke, VA. While in law school Jill won the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association Trial Advocacy Award and the Washington and Lee University Mock Trial competition. Her interest in trial work led her to the firm of Kay, Casto & Chaney in Charleston, WV, where she began her practice in civil litigation. Jill was also appointed to the CJA panel in the Southern District of West Virginia, where she represented criminal defendants in federal court. Jill's interest in criminal law led her to the Kanawha County Prosecutor's Office, where she worked as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney. Jill prosecuted hundreds of serious crimes, including drug offenses, sexual assaults, malicious wounding, kidnapping, and domestic violence offenses.
Jill returned to civil litigation when she moved back to her hometown of Pittsburgh. In 2012 Jill opened her own practice, with an emphasis on criminal defense and family law. In 2014 Jill moved her practice to Lisa Marie Vari & Associates. In addition to representing clients in custody, support, divorce and equitable distribution matters, Jill defends clients in criminal courts across western Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia.

Hired Attorney 2016-2025Jill has been working my case with extreme care and diligence. Her representation through my divorce and custody court was second to none. She took the time to explain everything in detail and truly fought for what was in the best interest of myself and my son. She is always able to find pin holes in documents that could potentially be detrimental and has always been able to rewrite the documents to protect me and my future. Jill has always been patient with me and all my questions, no matter how big or small. I wouldn’t want anyone else in my corner! The truly knows the justice system through and through!

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
