Hired Law firm 2018-2021Andrew Ziegler was my Lawyer. I hired him as a lawyer to take care of my divorce. I was very disappointed in his actions and his service that I had to go hire a new lawyer. I've called Attorney Swartz(who the office lady told me to contact if there was a problem) to speak to him about my case and about Andrew but I didn't receive a call back. So when I hired Andrew I gave him a $2,000 retainer fee. Ever since then I have documented everything, the times we have talked, dates and what was discussed. Andrew lied, gave me the run around and I personally feel like he cheated me out of my money. After hiring Andrew I sent multiples text and messages with no response. The office lady told me he was in quarantine 3 times different times, once he was in the mountains but when I called one of the final times he was in the office but still I never received a call back. I had to call his paralegal who was nice enough to get Andrew to call me back. Andrew sent no idealized reports EVER even after I asked him too. He would tell me to go for support then he would tell me he never said that and to go through the master. He kept prolonging the process, giving me the run around and switching the plan so he could I guess chip more and more off the retainer. He would tell me one thing then tell me another thing. I honestly don't think he could keep track of what he was doing. He told me he sent the info about the master through text but never sent it, I asked him to screen shot the text and resend it but he didn't do that, that's how I know he lied. I sent him photos of the living conditions my kids were living in with their dad and he didn't care about it to even respond or fight for the well being of my children. Right before I fired him he told me he didn't have time for my case and he barely got to see his family, then why take my case on. That was the last straw before I fired him and found someone else which is doing a great job by the way. I picked up my packet of documents fro

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
