Hired Attorney 2017-2020When i was 25 i bought a house thinking I could flip it. Unfortunately I was not able to so i had to become a landlord. 10 horrible years later, numerous irresponsible tenants and thousands of dollars in minor upgrades, unpaid rent and massive stress, I finally bit the bullet and decided I couldn't afford it anymore. Last thing I wanted to do was foreclose and besides that I had no clue how to do it. I figured I better seek the help of a lawyer. I had never used a lawyer and figured the best way for me was to look up reviews. After searching google I found Stephen. After contacting him and explaining my situation he was glad to help. He explained everything I needed to hear, kept in contact with me throughout the entire process and to this day, (recently received a trash ticket for the property after I foreclosed), is still helping me with no charge. His cost was incredibly reasonable and 3 years into the foreclosure, when I temporarily lost my job for a few months, he was very easy to work with for payment. Stephen is definitely someone I highly recommend, for as busy as he is he always found a way to get back to me on questions promptly. The foreclosure finished last year with flying colors, he saved me close to $200,000. I never met Stephen but his quick and detailed responses via email and text made me feel as if he were a close friend. JB

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
