I recommend Carol Adelstein as a most stellar and extremely competent attorney. She has handled my post - decree challenges for the past two years. Her knowledge and understanding of family law coincides with her strength and finesse in legal representation as well as her personal character and integrity. Carol?s demeanor is always professional. She commands respect from opposing counsel, presiding judges and courtroom staff. She has unraveled most of the problems initiated from my previous representation by providing options that resulted in positive outcomes for me. Carol always provides timely updates on filings, case documents and invoices. Her billing is logical, straightforward and transparent. Carol is an attorney I refer because she is someone who always reflects your values and represents your financial interests at all times.

When I got married in 1995 I never imagined that 22 years later I would be getting divorced. Feeling lost and overwhelmed, a friend of mine recommended divorce attorney Carol Adelstein. Upon meeting Carol, I instantly felt I was in very capable hands. Carol was by side through every step of the dissolution process. She was always there to listen, support me, and offer guidance. Carol was always up-front regarding fees and billing so there were no surprises. I was always given detailed statements of her time and all costs were fair and reasonable. Thanks to Carol I am in a much better place in my life right now and I do not believe I would have had such a great outcome without her help. She always had my best interests at heart and I will be forever grateful for all that she did to help me through this difficult time and for the wonderful outcome she was able to negotiate on my behalf. I would highly recommend Carol Adelstein as a divorce attorney.

Ms Adelstein helped me through a very difficult time and gave me excellent advice that has proven to be correct and accurate. Her considerable experience and wisdom enables her ability to boil down a complex set of issues into a simple solution. Reasonable fees, and looked out for my budgetary concerns.

Attorney adelstein convinced me to fire my lawyer in a custody dispute and then quit the day before the hearing keeping the $3,500 retainer she demanded. She is an extremely immoral and conniving person and I would not recommend calling her because her attitude is beyond frustrating as well as her extreme immorality.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
