Luis García has practiced in employment law, executive compensation, and in all aspects of litigation. He has conducted three dozen jury trials in addition to several arbitrations. His practice includes assisting executives and other employees obtain payment of outstanding and unpaid employment compensation, such as unpaid wages and severance benefits, stock options and other stock compensation, and sales commissions. He has represented start-up founders, chief executive officers, presidents, vice presidents and other corporate executives in negotiating compensation packages, and during severance package negotiations. Mr. García has also helped numerous employees obtain settlement or judgment in disputes with their employers for illegally terminating their employments, and for workplace sexual, age and racial discrimination. Mr. García has likewise represented several employers in the defense against discrimination, wrongful termination and other employment-related complaints. He has also represented small employers before the state Division of Workers’ Compensation and the California Employment Development Department.
Professional Background
Mr. García represents and advises clients in employment law and executive compensation. He also has broad experience representing individuals and companies in other areas of civil litigation, including commercial contract disputes, international arbitration and products liability matters, and in criminal defense. He is a former associate at Pillsbury Madison & Sutro (now Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman), and has been a Deputy Public Defender in Contra Costa County.
