Hired Attorney 2023-2025If you are looking for an attorney who will follow through on their promises, I strongly advise you to look elsewhere. Jerry Campbell was retained 15 months ago to file a petition in an effort to secure justice for RXXXX BXXXX, my friend and Neighbor, who has been incarcerated since he was a juvenile. Despite his assurances, he failed to take action, did not file the petition as promised, and showed a complete lack of urgency or accountability. When someone’s freedom and future are at stake, an attorney's integrity, diligence, and commitment are paramount. Unfortunately, Jerry Campbell demonstrated none of these qualities. His inaction wasted valuable time, causing unnecessary delays in a case that already demanded immediate attention. If you need legal representation that is responsive, competent, and actually fights for their clients, I strongly suggest finding another attorney. Do not make the mistake of trusting Jerry Campbell with your case. (Additionally, he will not provide any assurances in writing, provide receipts for payment and has no voicemail set up. He will not leave a paper trail of any sort. Our request for return of payment of over $2,500, for the work he did not do, was never fulfilled.)

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
