5.0 out of 5 stars

Both Tara and Keeley provide outstanding legal support. I have had a lengthy legal separation and received services from them that far surpassed the services I had previously received from other attorneys. They respond immediately to your calls and emails and actually listen to you and provide excellent legal guidance and support. I strongly recommend their services to anyone needing legal consul in a separation.

My wife and I were referred to Keeley Nickelson to help our family with my child custody case in Sacramento. The competence of my attorney was absolutely critical. Keeley absolutely delivered. Keeley actually listens to her clients. She fought hard for my case, but always approached the fight in the manner that represented my character. She understands the process and at no point did I feel like she was only in it to bill as much as she could get. Keeley is passionate in law, understands how to communicate with a highly demanding other side attorney and was honest throughout the whole process. Being that I am not a legal professional, I had a lot of questions. Keeley was very responsive and most of the time returned calls and emails same day. I would without hesitation recommend Keeley to anyone who is looking for legal representation for a family law matter. I guarantee that you will not regret the decision.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
