Raul “Rudy” Garcia joined MBI after serving five terms in the New Jersey General Assembly and three years as the Mayor of Union City. While in the legislature, he was elected Deputy Minority Leader by his colleagues and was a member of the Insurance, Banking and Education Committees. Rudy was the chief sponsor and proponent of legislation that brought more than $8 billion to the Abbott School Districts. As Mayor he was responsible for managing a budget of $65 million. Rudy’s experience includes service as Treasurer of the Democratic State Committee, Vice President of the National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators and Co-Chair of Jon Corzines’s successful 2000 U.S. Senate election campaign. At MBI, Rudy currently manages issues covering roadway improvement, environment, commercial development and lending. Rudy’s former running mate, Albio Sires was Speaker of the General Assembly and is now a member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
Rudy is a graduate of Columbia University and received a JD from New York University School of Law. He is admitted to practice law in both New York and New Jersey. Some of Rudy’s early claims to fame include being named to the Hudson County Sports Hall of Fame; he was all-state in football and all-county in baseball.
