    Hired Law firm 2018
I engaged Laura Ruzzo Reale for legal representation in May 2018. However, I am deeply troubled by her subsequent actions, which I believe demonstrate a serious breach of professional ethics and fiduciary duty. Specifically, I have reason to believe that Ms. Reale used confidential information obtained during her representation of me to gain an unfair advantage in a later legal matter involving my wife, whom she represented in a restraining order and divorce proceeding in June 2018. This conduct raises significant ethical concerns, particularly in the context of family law, where the best interests of the children should always be paramount. Instead, Ms. Reale’s actions appear to prioritize personal and professional gain over the well-being of the family she was entrusted to represent. Such behavior undermines the integrity of the legal profession and the trust clients place in their attorneys. I have documentation to substantiate these allegations, which I am prepared to provide to the appropriate authorities. My experience with Ms. Reale was profoundly disappointing. Her representation lacked the professionalism, ethical rigor, and dedication I expected from legal counsel. Her actions not only compromised my case but also demonstrated a disregard for the long-term impact on the children involved. I understand the importance of ethical conduct and fiduciary responsibility. Ms. Reale’s actions fell far short of these standards. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend her services to others. Her conduct reflects a self-serving approach that is inconsistent with the principles of justice and client advocacy.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
