BACKGROUND
Chip was born in Anderson, South Carolina, on September 23, 1968. He graduated from the University of the South (B.A., 1990), where he was a member of the Order of the Gownsmen, and from the University of South Carolina Law School (J.D., 1994), where he was a member of the Order of Wig and Robe, a winner of the University of South Carolina Trial Competition in 1994, a member of the ABA Trial Competition Team, and a member of the John Belton O'Neall Inn of Court. He was admitted to the South Carolina Bar in 1994, the Florida Bar in 1995, the United States District Court, District of South Carolina in 1995, and the United States Court of Appeals, Fourth Circuit in 1995. He is a member of the Charleston County, South Carolina and American Bar Associations. His areas of practice include the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations-Heavy Truck Litigation, personal injury, general negligence, commercial litigation, insurance law, product liability, medical malpractice and other professional liability defense. Chip lives in Mount Pleasant with his wife Florence and their three children.
