Attorney Information

Overview

Greg Sloan devotes his practice exclusively to representing individuals who have been injured due to the negligence of others. An accomplished trial lawyer, Greg has built a proven record of success advocating for clients before juries across South Carolina. His extensive courtroom experience is reflected in the fact that he has appeared in 34 of the state's 46 county courthouses, giving him a depth of litigation experience that few attorneys can match.

Greg grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, but has called South Carolina home throughout his adult life. After earning his Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Carolina, he began his career at the South Carolina Senate, where he worked for the late Senator Isadore Lourie, a respected advocate for social and economic justice. Recognizing Greg's passion for helping others, Senator Lourie encouraged him to pursue a career in law. Greg took his mentor's advice and went on to earn his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law, launching a legal career dedicated to serving and advocating for others.

Before relocating to Myrtle Beach, Greg practiced with a prominent multi-state defense firm, where he represented insurance companies and corporate defendants in complex tort and personal injury litigation, commercial transportation, premises liability, and mass tort cases. During that time, he served as Corporate Class Counsel responsible for overseeing the administration of claims arising from one of the most significant rail-related chemical spills in United States history. This invaluable defense experience gave Greg firsthand insight into how insurance companies evaluate, defend, and value injury claims. Today, he leverages that knowledge to anticipate defense strategies, maximize the value of his clients' cases, and achieve the best possible results for those he represents.

As a veteran trial lawyer and former Chief Municipal Judge and County Magistrate, Greg has handled virtually every type of legal matter imaginable. Yet one case remains especially memorable. Greg successfully intervened to save an elderly woman's beloved dog after it was mistakenly placed on a euthanasia list by animal control. After working to secure the dog's release, Greg reunited the grateful owner with her cherished companion. In appreciation, she rewarded him with a tearful hug and a homemade blueberry pie. To this day, Greg considers that reunion one of the most meaningful and rewarding accomplishments of his legal career.

Greg and his wife, Hope, make their home in Myrtle Beach. He is also the proud father of two adult children, Claire and Grayson. Outside the courtroom, Greg is deeply committed to serving his community and advancing the legal profession. A passionate advocate for mental health awareness, he serves on the South Carolina Advisory Council for the Protection and Advocacy of Individuals with Mental Illness. Greg is the immediate Past President of the Horry County Bar Association, having served on its Executive Board from 2021 through 2025. He is also a Certified Mediator through the National Association of Certified Mediators. Whether representing clients, mentoring fellow attorneys, or giving back to his community, Greg is guided by a steadfast commitment to service and helping others.
