Hired Attorney 2025Difficulties with returning messages. She personally delayed my hearing once for irrational reasons completely unrelated to my case. Other attorneys in the firm she’s associated with wouldn’t represent me on behalf of her multiple absences. Made me highly Suspicious so I hired another attorney elsewhere
-
Consulted Attorney 2024Several peers recommended Konvalinka, yet I was immediately directed to Jillyn. The consultation was rushed similar to a yearly physical. It’s fair to also mention, our introductory consultation was rescheduled 3 times
-
Hired Attorney 2024-2025Consultation and pre-trial provided a bright optimistic outlook. Jillyn was proactive with hard-balling my then husband’s lawyer’s mediation tactics. When the trial began, Jillyn couldn’t handle the pressure. I was bombarded with urgencies to reach an unfair settlement. I haven’t any criminal background history, operate my own systems engineering agency, and have no other civil disputes. She is happy to extort her services for unreasonable rates. Unfair representation

Hired Attorney 2023Lazy and incompetent. She took three months to file a motion on behalf of custodial arrangements for my children. I sent her a resignation notice, and sought council at another law firm. Too bad I can’t receive a refund for overvalued attorney fees. She received an undeserved severance check

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
