I hired Jay for a criminal case. GS court sent my case to the Grand Jury and Jay thought I should testify in front of them. This is almost never done due to the testimony being used against you at trial. I agreed with him and the GJ found a no true bill. The next day he submitted paperwork to have my record expunged and today it was signed by the circuit court Judge. I have now filed a law suite against my accuser for filling false charges against me and causing great harm to my family as well as my business. I have dealt with this firm in the past when I was not so free of guilt and with guidance and a great attorney I was able to rebuild my life and good standings with minimal damage. Thank you for your always prompt and kind service and for your great knowledge of law, the system and good old fashion common since.

I highly recommend J. Runyon. He is a top-tier attorney who is very humble. I have no words to express how far he is willing to go for his clients. In my opinion, he will go very far indeed. I have had the pleasure of working with him, And he has consistently demonstrated a deep understanding of the law and a genuine concern for his clients' best interests. He is always willing to listen to his clients' concerns and to explore every possible avenue for resolving their cases. He is a skilled negotiator who is always able to find common ground with the other side and reach an acceptable resolution. I have no doubt that he will continue to be a successful attorney for many years to come.

Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
