Overview

Since 1998, Jennifer Lynn Thompson has dedicated her practice to defending people accused of serious felonies and misdemeanors in state and federal court and representing clients in cases involving divorce and child custody.

Ms. Thompson received her law degree, cum laude with honors from the University of Tennessee in 1996 and was admitted to practice in the state that same year.

While in law school, Ms. Thompson was a member of the Tennessee Law Review, received certificates of Academic Excellence in Criminal Procedure and Commercial Law, was a quarter-finalist in the Moot Court Board Ray Jenkins Trial Competition, and was a member of the Student Bar Association; American Bar Association, law student division; Association of Trial Lawyers of America, student member; Phi Delta Phi and Phi Kappa Phi.

Before founding her own practice in 1998, Ms. Thompson was an associate at the law firm of Blackburn, Slobey, Freeman & Happell from September 1997 to June 1998; served as clerk to the Honorable Gary R. Wade of the Court of Criminal Appeals from August 1996 to August 1997. While in law school, Ms. Thompson worked as a research assistant to Law Professor John Sobieski from October 1994 to July 1996 and as a law clerk to Attorney Dennis Francis from May 1995 to April 1996. Ms. Thompson also worked as a computer programmer for Provident Life and Accident Insurance Co. from March 1987 to July 193 and as an adjunct instructor at Chattanooga State Technical Community College from August to December 1991.

She is a member of the Nashville, Tennessee and American Bar Associations; the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers where she is a sustaining member and has served on the board of directors, is a past-chairman of the Ethics Committee and is a member of the Legislative Committee; the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers where she is a life member; (Life Member); the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association and The Association of Trial Lawyers of America.

About half way through my case she became shady. She attempted to enter backroom deals with the opposing attorney. The deal she tried to get us to agree to wasn't even legal. After becoming frustrated with that antic she quit communicating with us. A total disappointment!!
