Consulted Attorney 2024I was referred to Blayre’s practice by an attorney that I know and trust. He described her as “great” and “solid”. That’s high praise from an experienced partner at a different firm. I was immediately impressed when I called and spoke with a paralegal who took down the basics of my case to refer to the legal team. He was patient and caring, and he didn’t brush me off because I needed a consultation within 24 hours or because this would be a small matter per their usual case size. He called back in a couple hours and let me know that they weren’t able to help me in such a short timeframe, which I totally understood. The thing that caused me to write this review is that he went above and beyond what any other attorney or firm has done—he emailed me a few referrals as well as links to free legal advice and other resources! This shows me that this practice cares about helping people even if they’re not profiting from it. I will definitely call Blayre Peña in the future if God-forbid I’m up against another legal hurdle.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
