Attorney Information

Overview

Andromeda Vega Rubio is an Austin criminal defense attorney and Senior Trial Attorney at Michael & Associates Criminal Defense Attorneys. A former Texas prosecutor, she represents clients facing misdemeanor and felony charges throughout Central Texas and across the state. Her experience on both sides of the criminal justice system helps her evaluate evidence, anticipate prosecution strategies, and build individualized defenses.

Andromeda represented Demetrius Jones, a former Fort Hood soldier charged with murder in connection with the 2021 death of fellow soldier Sgt. Francine Martinez in Killeen, Texas. Jones maintained his innocence, and his defense asserted that he was not at the scene. After he spent more than a year in the Bell County jail awaiting trial, prosecutors moved to dismiss the murder charge as jury selection began in September 2025. The judge granted the dismissal, and Jones was released.

Andromeda began her legal career at the Williamson County Attorney’s Office, where she advanced to a trial prosecutor position. That experience gave her firsthand insight into how prosecutors evaluate evidence, prepare cases, negotiate resolutions, and approach trials. She now uses that knowledge to identify weaknesses in the state’s case and challenge evidence when appropriate.

She graduated cum laude from the University of Maryland with a B.A. in Psychology, earned a master’s degree in Biotechnology from Johns Hopkins University, and received her J.D. from Baylor University School of Law in 2019. Fluent in both Spanish and German, Andromeda can communicate directly with clients in multiple languages. She combines her scientific education, prosecutorial background, and criminal defense experience with meticulous preparation, personalized attention, and clear communication when defending clients facing serious criminal charges.
