Attorney Information
Overview
When asked when she decided she wanted to be a criminal defense attorney, her answer is “According to my parents, I was about 4 years old when I told them I wanted to be an attorney, and I apparently specified that I wanted to do criminal defense law.” And that is exactly what Mrs. Rueda began doing as soon as she received her license.
Mrs. Rueda has handled all kinds of criminal cases from capital murder trials to small traffic infractions. She has handled each and every phase of a criminal law case from beginning to end. ”No matter what the charge is, big or small, it is always a big deal for the individual and their family, so there is no small case when you see if from your clients perspective.” Asked what she enjoys most about her job “You may not expect this answer from a criminal defense attorney, but it’s the people, the clients in particular. I love getting to know clients, being able to communicate with them, educate them, gain their trust and then give them the help they need in difficult and stressful situations. ” When Mrs. Rueda is not working, she is spending time with her husband and son exploring new places to eat and relax.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
