Hired Law firm 2024-2025Steve Lopez is a rare find in the legal profession. An ethical, knowledgeable and skilled attorney with a sincere drive to serve his clients and deliver the most favorable resolution for them. My case was extremely complex and required more than a “good” family law attorney. From extended family input to complicated assets, my case had many layers to unravel. But Steve was able to go through it all and deliver results more favorable than I could have imagined. I am forever grateful to Steve and his amazing paralegal, Alexis. During the many times of stress, doubt, and large amounts of legal paperwork processing, Alexis stepped in and became a much needed counselor and legal assistant. She was always able to make me see the light at the end of the legal tunnel. Choosing Steve Lopez to represent me and fight my legal battle was the best choice I made. I wish I could attach a video clip of Steve in legal action in court, impressive to say the least. Thank you, Steve and Alexis.

Hired Law firm 2024-2025The whole staff is so nice. The atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. Steve was attentive and answered all of my concerns in a timely manner. When the time came, Steve stood up for me and I walked away with a better deal than I ever expected. Thanks to everyone at the Lopez Law Firm.

Hired Law firm 2023-2024I do not recommend Steve Lopez, in fact, I wish I would have done more research before hiring him altogether. Steve and his office are extremely disorganized, difficult to get a hold of, unprofessional, and a waste of time. Anyone using a lawyer knows time is money. Steve and his office have behaved so unprofessionally and unethically, that I will be moving forward with a formal Texas Board complaint on his behavior. Steve took on my case in April of 2023 and I have yet to go to court. Against my wishes and better judgment, Steve has continued to allow extension on my case on multiple occasions. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. He has showed no genuine interest in getting myself or my case into court in a timely manner - all the while continuing to send billings. There is much miscommunication with himself and his staff. Calls and voicemails will go unanswered, but you will be charged. Nothing is filed in timely or correctly communicated. From the beginning of my case I have been an unsatisfied client. I have been under the impression that Steve and his office like to drag cases out on purpose in order to continue sending bills for filings and time spent on the case. It has been over 6 months on an order of protection. Not only has Steve lacked professionalism, but his inability to move in a timely manner has put my safety in jeopardy. Please do your research if you have a difficult court case. I am out time, money, and resources due to his legal guidance.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
