I’m so sorry to read everyone’s negative comments about Attorney Allen. Given, the accusations may or may not be true in your situations, however, let’s consider a few of these statements: 1). Not wearing shoes in the courtroom; although I don’t think that would affect her ability to defend your case, have you ever considered the fact that she may have a medical condition that affects her ability to wear shoes for en extended period of time? I don’t know about you BUT I would much rather my Attorney be as comfortable as possible when defending my case. 2). What about the statement of her charging an excessive amount of money? I say “Know your worth.” I have personally used Attorney Allen & her husband, and this woman has more than proven her financial value as an Attorney, but also TEACHES LAW. I also work in the legal field where she comes HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, and before anyone presents her name as a recommendation, the FIRST thing they say is SHE’S EXPENSIVE, but she’s worth it. When you meet Attorney Allen for a consultation, SHE tells you “IT WON’T BE CHEAP, but I will do my best.” What I’m trying to say is we have THE BEST ATTORNEY IN THE CHILD SUPPORT INDUSTRY, and we should not be focusing on the verbiage she chooses to use, weather or not she wears what WE consider as the “Right” shoes to court, or what is her physical size, because NONE OF THAT IS IMPORTANT, and is somewhat petty. My question is DID SHE WIN YOUR CASE, and everything else is purely semantics. BOTH ALLEN’s HAVE A REPUTATION for winning, and THAT’S WHY WE HAVE TO PAY THEM THE BIG BUCKS. That’s my OPINION & I’m sticking to it…… Thank You Attorney Allen for all you do in the Courtroom, my family and I celebrate you 💯🙏

There is nothing more I can say that previous reviewers haven’t already said. This woman does not belong in law. I pray no one falls victim to her sub-par services. Please save yourself the trouble.

Cynthia Allen is one of the worst attorneys anyone could encounter or someone could hire. She is currently my husbands divorce attorney. She is rude, twists the truth, manipulates the truth, try's to bully you into an unfair split of your estate. She has even gone as far as calling our daughter NOT my husbands daughter just because she was adopted by my husband. She has used my attorneys work and changed a few items on our works to claim it as her own. She does not follow the law and does not comply with court orders. This attorney is scary, manipulative and very unprofessional. She also is very unorganized, lies, and charges an outrages amount of money for work she does not do. We even noticed she charged my husband for work his first attorney did. When my husband hired her I am sure she saw the money we had coming to us in our split and has focused on spending it all on her fees. Her focus is her financial gain not for her clients.

Cynthia Allen is absolutely rude, unprofessional, and has no consideration of anything but the money she can make in this industry. As a mediator, over the past couple of years, I have seen her work. Like other reviewers said, she does not care about your time, the facts, or acting professionally. Unfortunately, I actually had to encounter her. She was late, she did not know the correct names for the case, was so rude when addressing me and others, and left as quickly as possible having no regard for anyone's concerns or questions. For those who are seeking help with family cases, seek ELSEWHERE. Do not waste your time, money, or energy on this woman. According to other clients who have dealt with her, her office calls them even after proceedings have been finalized in order to spur them on to get back to court when it's not even necessary JUST SO SHE CAN MAKE MORE MONEY. She looks for the suckers that she can scare making them think that court is their only resort and she'll use their kids to do so. It's disgusting and this is an attorney giving law and justice a horrible name. Please know that court should be your last resort. There are so many other civil ways to handle family cases. Yes, she is expensive, but in her regard, you are not getting what you pay for unless what you want is unprofessionalism and no consideration.

When viewing a listing, consider the state advertising restrictions to which lawyers and law firms must adhere, as well as our FindLaw.com Legal Directory disclaimer. Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
