Upon hiring Mark to take my case over from another attorney, I was given the utmost confidence from him that he "had me" and I had a 'simple' case, but it was anything but that. He did not communicate to opposing counsel, did not provide opposing counsel information that needed to be iterated from me, did not present them with options I provided, I once went 4 weeks without a work from Mark, despite blatant asks for updates. There were misspelled names of me and my child in court documents that I had to catch, inconsistent information across pleadings or documents, and an approach of "this is a slam dunk" but no real action being taken. Upon mediation, things that I did not say were shared with opposing counsel, and only a half day mediation was booked for a complex case. We got about 3 hours of actual work in. After mediation, I learned that a mediation agreement was drafted and sent to opposing counsel yet Mark claimed to have not received it, despite being copied on the emails. Mediation settlement notes were not sent to opposing counsel, despite opposing counsel asking for updates. I was told "just wait for temporary court orders", but opposing side received not even an update as to why 'we would not mediate'. Come time for the temporary orders hearing, I got a call from his paralegal that the orders hearing was postponed (booked for 5 months) due to opposing counsel error, but it was really Mark and/or firm NOT FILING THE COURT REQUIRED PLEADINGS on time, despite me being prepped for trial. This blew my case, set court back additional months, and required me to seek outside counsel and do serious damage control to my case. I never received any communication after this from Mark, no explanation, I essentially was ghosted by my own attorney despite sending 6+ written communications for an explanation and requests for my files. I had such confidence in this attorney, but it ended up harming me, my life, my finances, and my case more than words can say.
