Hired Attorney 2024-2025Absolutely amazing, I have nothing but good things to say about this Law Firm. Teresa is very honest and hard working. I recently hired her to handle a contested divorce. Copeland was able to win my case in our first appearance in court. She has the utmost professionalism and stepped me through having all the correct documents before our appearance. The firm provides Detailed statements every month on where and if any of your retainer is used. I am very pleased with her abilities and ethics. She let's you know up front what to expect both the good and the bad. I would highly recommend her to anyone in need of great professional legal representation.

Hired Attorney 2017-2019I would highly recommend Theresa. We were together for three and a half year with what started as a protection order. Theresa helped me with a modification, mediation, and also showed up ready for trial TWICE. I’m sure she would agree my ex husband was one of the most difficult people she’s ever worked with, in her entire career, but she handled him well. Ultimately she helped me keep my son safe, and helped with a custody modification that is truly in my sons best interest, for now. If I ever have to go thru this nightmare again, I wouldn’t want another attorney by my side.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
