Consulted Attorney 2025At first I thought Ms. Fowler was going to be an amazing fit for my case. I had limited funds and limited time but Jane assured me she'd be able to handle my case for half her usual fee. Unfortunately when It came time for me to pay this fee, I was met with a completely different attitude and excuses as to why she could no longer take my case. I literally begged and pleaded with her, explaining that her last minute change of heart was most likely going to cost me my case due to a lack of time to retain a different attourney. I recieved no response and ended up showing up to court with no legal council. Luckily, I was able to find a much better lawyer in the waiting area who had my case pushed and managed to win 2 months later. DO NOT trust Jane Fowler with your case. And do not trust her word. Get anything she says in writing. Jane, what you did was just plain wrong and I hope bad karma finds its way to you. And take me off your mailing list, I dont want your holiday calendar. You're a bad person and a worse lawyer.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
