I consulted Keiko when I was seeking divorce after my wife spent all of our money and ran into the ground with debt. Keiko assured me that she'd make me right as it related to my wife's disproportionate spending. I sounded great, and I was encouraged. Then reality sunk in. Keiko acquiesed to almost everything, so I ended up getting pretty screwed. Additionally, my ex was non-compliant starting with the MSA when we were ordered to continue paying the bills we'd been paying, throughout the proceedings when my ex would miss deadlines or refuse to provide documentation, and after the divorce when my ex didn't provide me with the property I was awarded within the final decree. It's now four years after the fact, and I am still dealing with my rebellious ex because she was never held to task during the process. I would never recommend Keiko to anyone, esp if you think your divorce will be contentious. I hate to think that she didn't look out for me because I was the husband and father, but the disappointing way in which she didn't look out for me makes me wonder.

I called and spoke with Ms. Keiko Griffin today, and got no help whatsoever. She automatically sided with the mother of my child. I’m currently trying to get custody, and she automatically sided with her. I can tell she would not fight for a man. Didn’t offer any advice, was very short and I felt like I was being rushed off the phone. Do not hire her as your lawyer. Especially if you are a man, she will side with the female. Very rude lady. Do not hire.

Ms Griffin will over charge you and follow it up with bs credits to make you think she's taking care of you as a client. I made the mistake of hearing Ms Griffin for a divorce with no childen and was charged $20k. When you hire this office for a divorce you're not just hiring Ms Griffin but multiple paralegals that are incompetent and you end up not only paying for their mistakes but you'll be double charged by a lawyer and a paralegal through out your divorce. You will end up bending over backwards to provide years of documents and information only to have the paralegals leave info out of documents and Ms Griffin asking you to text her pics of the papers that the paralegals failed to include during your mediation. Ms Griffin is rude and gets very upset if you question where your money is going or a explanation of chages. If this review helps one fellow veteran think twice before hiring Ms Griffin then the $20,000 was well spent. I'm sure this review will be followed up with a sweat reply, just do your due diligence, lord knows I didn't.

Keiko and her team have been nothing but wonderful to me during my difficult time. They are responsive, accessible, and helpful. I would recommend her.

This law office will rob you blind with BS legal fees. I gave a $4000 retainer, 1.5 months later her office said that they had burned through the retainer and needed another $1500 to get current. She had almost no work to show for the work that was charged. She withdrew from my cased and didn't send me my paperwork until 40 minutes before I walked into court Per Se (self-representing). I felt like I was ambushed and stolen from. Finally, I received an invoice for $4200! thats almost 10K for almost no work and very little paperwork. STAY FAR AWAY!

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
