    Hired Law firm 2018-2020

Not sure where to even start. I was charged as a 1st time offender with a DWI back in 2018 in Harris County. I hired Tyler Flood immediately. Through nearly 2 years since the incident, I went through about 8-10 resets. I had mentally prepared to be convicted of a misdemeanor. Meanwhile, I went to a doctor for alcoholism. Prescribed me medication that made you physically ill if mixed with alcohol. Most importantly, I went to an in-house rehab to address my alcoholism. I have been sober since. So in March 2020, we finally went to trial. Tyler and another colleague (Craig Stewart) were present. The hearing took approximately 2 hours. I cannot describe to you the rock stars that are disguised as Tyler and Craig. They fought hard for me. Video of the incident were played in court. The cops stated that I was stopped for not signaling a lane change. Probable cause. Again, I didn’t weave or anything. BUT, the cop that noted the lane change violation was NOT the one who pulled me over. He had to run off to another incident. He radioed in for back up to pull me over. Then he left to go to the other incident. So the cop that pulled me over never witnessed me not signaling. I admit I did drink more than I needed to that evening. It was my fault. Regardless, Tyler and Craig pulled up precedents arguing probable cause. Two hours of this. Finally the judge went back to her quarters to review the video in private. She came back and stated there wasn’t sufficient probable cause to have stopped me. Prosecution, at that point, requested dismissal of charges. Case dismissed. I can unequivocally say that if you’re caught up in a similar situation, contact his office. May be a bit pricey, but it’s well worth it. I do not have a criminal record, no conviction. I was so scared what a conviction would do to potential employment opportunities et al. Hire Tyler, you won’t regret it!

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
