Verified ClientHired Law firm 2020After experiencing a very difficult contract in the past with a large EPC contractor on a mega-project, we knew we needed an attorney to advise us on our newly awarded $90 million subcontract with a joint venture of multiple big EPC contractors. Karalynn and Kasey at The Cromeens Law Firm have been great to work with. They are quick to respond, and have provided sound and fair legal counsel. They have helped edit and advise us on negotiating so that we are going in to this job on a level playing field and have an evenhanded subcontract. I sleep better at night knowing that we are going into this big project with the proper protection and a team who has our best interests in mind. If you’re a subcontractor, you need to talk with The Cromeens Law Firm.

Verified ClientHired Law firm 2008-2020No one wants to have to retain an attorney. That being said, every successful company needs to retain counsel. While my company has been working with The Cromeens Firm since it's inception, the attention we get from Courtney Stricklen is above and beyond what anyone could expect. She responds quickly to questions and concerns. She is instrumental in keeping our contracts up to date. Her legal counsel is sound and unbiased. When it comes to actual litigation she is knowledgeable, aggressive when required, and shows the confidence needed to argue successfully. I would not want anyone else representing my firm.

Hired Law firm 2016-2017I really thought she was working “for me” Ms. Dunmore advised me to settle my case thinking my chances at trail might not be favorable “demographics.” I decided to settle after 2 surgeries and now I’m up for a possible 3rd I can honestly say she wasn’t a good hire for me. The case has been closed, I’m still in recovery and in my opinion Ms. Dunmore walked away from this case more whole than I did (almost a 50/50 split). Buyers remorse, yes...wish I hadn’t listened to my counsel.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
