Consulted Attorney 2026She will take your MONEY then avoid you by all means!! I hired Julie Brock-Clure to serve as the mediator in my family-law matter. Unfortunately, my experience with the mediation and the handling of the mediation fee afterward was disappointing. The written mediation agreement stated that the 500 fee was for four hours spent with the parties and also addressed other mediation-related work, including document review, research, correspondence, telephone calls, and preparation of agreements. Our mediation session lasted approximately 1.5 hours. Afterward, I contacted Ms. Brock-Clure to request clarification regarding the unused mediation time and the fee. I was told that no refund would be provided because we had been given a four-hour time slot, regardless of whether all four hours were used. My concern was not simply that the mediation ended early. I requested clarification and an accounting of the services performed in connection with the fee, but I was not satisfied with the response I received. Based on my experience, I also felt that the process was focused more on retaining the mediation fee than on helping the parties reach a meaningful resolution. I became concerned that the primary emphasis was financial rather than assisting the parties in resolving their dispute. I also noticed that other reviews raised concerns similar to mine, although this review is based solely on my personal experience. I recommend that anyone considering these mediation services carefully review the agreement and obtain written clarification about whether the fee is flat and nonrefundable, what services are included, how unused mediation time is handled, and whether any refund or accounting may be available if the mediation ends early. This review reflects my personal experience with this particular mediation and fee dispute.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
