Overview
Omar Chawdhary is a Houston-based personal injury trial lawyer dedicated to representing individuals and families who have been seriously injured or lost loved ones due to negligence. His practice focuses on high-stakes litigation involving trucking accidents, 18-wheeler collisions, oilfield accidents and explosions, workplace injuries, and wrongful death cases throughout Texas.
Known for his relentless advocacy and courtroom presence, Omar has tried 13 cases to verdict and has successfully represented clients before juries, judges, and arbitrators across the country, including in Houston, Dallas, Alice, Las Vegas, and Tucson. He is particularly experienced in complex cases involving catastrophic injuries, including traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and severe orthopedic harm.
Over the course of his career, Omar Chawdhary has helped secure hundreds of millions of dollars in settlements and verdicts for his clients. He was part of a trial team that obtained a $55 million settlement and has served as lead counsel in multiple high-value cases, including:
- A $10,000,000 settlement in an oilfield wrongful death case involving fatal worksite conditions;
- An $11,797,461.54 settlement in a workplace death case involving unsafe practices;
- An $8,000,000.00 settlement for personal injuries and mild traumatic brain injury from a truck accident; and,
- A $7,500,000.00 settlement for personal injuries and mild traumatic injury from a truck accident.
In March 2023, Omar Chawdhary, along with co-counsel, obtained a $1,975,000 jury verdict in Villatoro v. Texas Outlaw Recovery Wrecker Services, et al. (151st District Court, Harris County, Texas), a trucking accident case in which the plaintiff was rear-ended at high speed by a tow truck, resulting in severe spinal injuries requiring surgery. The verdict consisted entirely of pain and suffering, mental anguish, and physical impairment damages.
Omar has been consistently recognized for his excellence in personal injury law. He has been named a Super Lawyers Rising Star every year from 2017 to the present and has been selected to the Top 100 Up-and-Coming Attorneys in Texas list on three separate occasions.
A Houston native, Omar graduated from Stratford High School before attending the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics in 2009. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law in 2012 and was admitted to the State Bar of Texas later that year.
Omar began his legal career as a law clerk at a prestigious personal injury law firm, where he developed a strong foundation in personal injury litigation, including cases involving industrial accidents and unsafe work environments. Out of law school, Omar worked as an associate attorney handling complex business litigation for both plaintiffs and defendants. In early 2014, Omar transitioned his practice to focus exclusively on personal injury law, including trucking litigation, oilfield injury cases, and wrongful death claims. In April 2022, Omar moved to Kherkher Garcia, LLP to focus solely on catastrophic personal injury cases.
In July 2016, Omar attended the prestigious Trial Lawyers College in Dubois, Wyoming, a highly selective 24-day program founded by renowned trial lawyer Gerry Spence. The program focuses on advanced trial techniques, storytelling, and human connection in the courtroom—an experience that continues to shape Omar’s approach to advocating for injured clients and grieving families.
During law school, Omar was actively involved in South Texas College of Law’s nationally recognized advocacy program, competing in multiple national competitions. He was also the inaugural recipient of the Ryan R. Euan Memorial Award Scholarship, presented to a graduating student who demonstrates both academic excellence and a strong commitment to balancing professional and personal responsibilities.
Outside of his legal practice, Omar enjoys traveling and playing golf. He is a lifelong Houston sports fan and avidly supports the Texans, Rockets, Astros, and Texas Longhorns.
