STATEMENT OF PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Amy Harris received her law license from the State Bar of Texas in 2003, and became board certified in family law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in 2011.

Amy is a member of the state bar association, the local bar associations and is frequently appointed by numerous courts to serve as an AMICUS attorney to provide assistance to the Court in determining the best interest of children.

Early in her career, Amy had the most fortunate opportunities to work with and be mentored by some of the most successful and well-respected attorneys in this area of practice. The experiences provided her with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to establish herself in the community and amongst her peers.

In addition to her successes as a lawyer, Amy possesses the compassion and patience necessary to provide the best legal advice and counsel to her clients. She has a knack for accurately assessing a case and determining the most efficient course of action for a client and their case.

Amy has worked with clients having few or uncomplicated issues, to those clients having complex or high conflict issues. She is a zealous advocate for each and every client and devotes the time and personal attention.

While representing clients in litigation before the trial court is an important part of her practice, Ms. Harris also handles appellate matters in the trial court, courts of appeals and Texas Supreme Court. Lawyers frequently consult with Ms. Harris on their litigation cases about specialized legal issues requiring particularized attention both at the trial court and appellate levels. This gives her a unique perspective and depth of perception that benefits both her litigation and appellate clients.

First had the opportunity to use Amy in 2007. I lost a ride to see my daughters. She did everything in her power patiently to get it handled to where I could see them done a phenomenal job for my family and myself. I wouldn’t have a relationship with him. I have the day if it wasn’t for her I recommend her to everyone I know.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
