Let me explain why I am giving John W. Lawit, LLC a 5* review. I am a researcher and seeking help for an Eb1A visa. I have tried to contact several attorneys to help me with the consultation. Many gave me reasons which don't make sense because I have done my partial research about my petition. However, Mr. John took his time and evaluated my case closely. He replied to my emails at his earliest possible convenience. He also gave me all the possible scenarios that I can go through. With this all, Mr. John called me and discussed with me for more than half-hour. He made me clear about all the misconceptions I had. It proves that Mr. John and his law firm actually cares about his clients, and if I would be hiring an attorney, then it will be no other than John W. Lawit, LLC.

4.5 out of 5 stars

Mr Lawit and his staff are top notch. I had problems with my employer, for 3 years tried to make the green card happen until I hired Mr Lawit. His persistence and attention to detail made my green card dreams possible. Why settle for others when you can have an awesome lawyer who cares about your case? Mr Lawit and his staff reviewed my case, and developed a plan of action that worked. It was an uphill battle, and my employer was not too cooperative. My case was stuck for two and a half years with no end in site. Mr Lawit and his staff went above and beyond what can be reasonably expected of a lawyer in a case like mine, which convinced me that they truly care about my case and the challenges that I was facing. With expert guidance they brought me through every hurdle, and provided encouragement when the road seemed arduous. Mr Lawit and his staff are dedicated, professional, compassionate and trustworthy. I would not trust anyone else with my immigration needs. Excellent!

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
