You never ever want to experience injury to your family especially your spouse, it happened to me is a nightmare that you want to wake up from, but it is not a nightmare it is reality “real life.” Your mind starts going in different directions, you feel overcome, in my case I felt powerless to the situation, you want compensation and justice for your loved one. Your first instinct is to look for a voice to represent your loved one for accountability and justice. On television you see commercials lawyers promoting themselves as big award winners, I started calling them one by one. It was like calling a marketing center where you can hear other people talking, they rush you like a mass production line. The experience and the results were the same, we cannot represent you after they put you on hold for 10 minutes. I explained the same facts to all of them about my wife’s significant injury. Then I got frustrated and asked; it looks like your firm only takes a case if the person near death or crippled for life, aren’t you, injury lawyers? No response they referred me to the legal aid office instead, at least from them received a generic letter stating if you were injured in an automobile accident, please do not hesitate to call us. After calling the TV alleged big lawyers someone tapped me on the back of my head telling me to call Janicek Law “perhaps my Angel “. I believed so; an Angel answered the call name Jessica Rodriguez Attorney at Law. She was precise with her questions of what happened, I never experienced the calling center mass production with her. She took the case and represented my wife with passion and determination; other Angels took part representing my wife with the same passion and determination Mya C and Amanda C., Ms. Rodriguez continue to fight by showing her professionalism, taking care of my wife, and caring for her as her commitment when she took the oath to practice law. I want to thank Ms. Rodriguez and her staff for taking care of my wife and for the outcome of the case. If you ever experience a nightmare like mine, you are not alone, please call Janicek Law.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
