I HIGHLY recommend hiring Mark as your divorce attorney. Mark guided me through the process carefully and successfully. Most importantly he listened to what I wanted and needed. He offered up suggestions and ensured that I was protecting myself and my son through its entirety. Mark's retainer fee was much lower than most attorney's. Mark was honest in his charges and offered an itemized receipt which was extremely helpful. I would re-hire Mark in a heartbeat.

Mark Thompson is an exceptional divorce lawyer. After my divorce was finalized, my ex-husband refused to follow parts of our divorce decree, which left me overwhelmed, stressed, and unsure of what to do next. Mark stepped in and handled everything with professionalism, confidence, and genuine care. He explained every step clearly, responded quickly to all my questions, and made sure my rights were protected. Thanks to his expertise, my post-divorce issues were finally resolved and I could move forward with peace of mind. I’m truly grateful for his dedication and the way he fought for me. If you need an attorney who is knowledgeable, trustworthy, and truly committed to helping his clients, I highly recommend Mark Thompson.

Firm Information

Overview

Practicing family law provides me with the opportunity to represent real people with real problems. I do not represent banks or insurance companies. I represent people who are going through divorces, people who are trying to collect child support and people who are trying to see their children.

I take pride in practicing family law. Family law touches almost every family in some way: divorce, adoption, child support, visitation, and paternity actions to name a few. The overwhelming percentage of cases heard every day in the Bexar County courthouse are family law cases. Family law is where the action is.

Each case (and client) is different. As your lawyer, my job is to analyze your situation, identify the legal issues, make sure that you are aware of your options (including mediation) and the possible consequences, and then fiercely represent you once you have determined which path to take. I am also familiar with the special issues that our service members and their spouses face in family law cases.

I am young and energetic and The Law Office of Mark C. Thompson is quickly gaining recognition in the San Antonio legal community. My mother is an established family law attorney and I have learned a great deal from working with her over the past several years. I do not guarantee results, I only guarantee that I will represent you to the best of my abilities.

Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
