Consulted Attorney 2025She tried scamming our family out of $300. I work night shift so I waited and stayed up to meet with her. We have been through a lot already, instead of taking our money & giving us direction. She did not even hear our side of the story. My wife went up to her office before me for our 11am appointment. I ran to grab a note book with some questions we put down to ask. At 11:03A.M. I pulled up to park, my wife was in tears. Asking my wife “what’s wrong?” She said “she would not even hear us, she just took our money & said no, I will not do anything.” I went up to her office, try for her to explain, give us direction and she would not hear anything, very unprofessional, extremely rude & aggressive. She mentioned she used ethics, to try smoothing her scam over, that is the only way I can understand what happened. It’s very upsetting for my wife & I, so inappropriate. It also went from $200 to $300, she stole our money and was stern about keeping $300, for such an important display of professionalism & law practice. Not a good attorney & after being an MP, I felt like there is something else going on due her aggression and disturbing behavior. Like she spoke with or knew someone involved with in our case. We are filing a complaint with the bar. I would definitely not recommend her, corruption.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
