John Sobchak Jr. - Manassas, VA

Attorney John Sobchak, Jr. represents clients charged with criminal offenses, DUI/DWI, and serious traffic charges in courts throughout Virginia. Mr. Sobchak received a bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh before earning his Juris Doctor from the George Mason University School of Law.

Before joining The Wilson Law Firm, Mr. Sobchak handled a wide range of matters for clients across Northern Virginia, from criminal misdemeanors to custody disputes, personal injury and civil litigation, and estate administration. That range gave him a working knowledge of how different parts of the legal system interact, which matters when a criminal charge carries consequences for employment, licensing, or a family law matter already underway.

Since joining the firm, Mr. Sobchak has appeared in courts across the Commonwealth, from Northern Virginia through Fredericksburg and Richmond to Lunenburg, Williamsburg, Smyth County in the southwest, and Alleghany and Augusta in the Shenandoah Valley. He represents clients charged with traffic and misdemeanor offenses as well as felonies carrying the possibility of substantial prison time. He has argued successfully before both Commonwealth's Attorneys and judges to have his clients' charges reduced or dismissed.

Mr. Sobchak also handles post-conviction matters, including expungement, record sealing, restoration of firearm rights, and restoration of driving privileges. A suspended license or a conviction on a record can affect a person's ability to work or travel long after the case itself is over.

To better represent clients charged with DUI/DWI, Mr. Sobchak completed the NHTSA 24-hour course on administering Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, the same training given to the police officers who conduct these tests during DUI investigations. Knowing the correct procedure allows him to evaluate how the tests were given in his client's case and whether the officer followed the required standards.
