T. Kevin Wilson - Manassas, VA

T. Kevin Wilson is a Virginia DUI/DWI, Reckless Driving, and Criminal Defense lawyer who has won NOT GUILTY verdicts at every Virginia trial court level: Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Courts, General District Courts, and Circuit Courts. He has won in the Virginia Court of Appeals, where he obtained the reversal and dismissal of a felony gun conviction. He has won cases that looked unwinnable, including a NOT GUILTY verdict in a DUI/DWI case with a 0.29 blood alcohol result, more than three and a half times the 0.08 legal limit.

For more than a decade Mr. Wilson was a Legal Instructor at the Prince William County Criminal Justice Academy, where he taught Virginia Criminal Law, Virginia Criminal Procedure, Constitutional Law, and Evidence. If you need a criminal defense lawyer, having one who taught the police is a good idea. He has also served as a Special Prosecutor at the request of the Commonwealth's Attorney. Mr. Wilson opened The Wilson Law Firm on January 1, 1999. The firm represents clients throughout Virginia accused of DUI/DWI, Reckless Driving, and all criminal offenses, both misdemeanor and felony, with particular emphasis on the complicated and specialized field of Virginia DUI/DWI defense.

Nothing about a criminal case is routine to the person facing it, and Mr. Wilson does not treat the evidence against his clients as routine either. A defense that is not recognized is not available, and recognizing one means understanding what the Commonwealth is relying on, whether that is a breath machine, a field test, or a witness. He has trained accordingly.

He is one of only two lawyers in Virginia to hold the designation of Forensic Lawyer-Scientist, awarded by the American Chemical Society Division of Chemistry and the Law. Earning it required a four-week program at Axion Labs in Chicago covering forensic chromatography, forensic drug analysis, and forensic DUID.

Mr. Wilson is a Founding Member of the DUI Defense Lawyers Association and a member of the National College for DUI Defense. He is trained on the use of police RADAR and LIDAR, and on Standardized Field Sobriety Testing. He is trained as an Evidentiary Breath Alcohol Technician and has completed training on the Intoxilyzer S-D2, S-D5, 400, 5000, and 8000. He traveled to Ohio to complete a certification course on Virginia's ECIR II, made by Intoximeters, Inc. He has completed Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) training and courses on Mastering Scientific Evidence in DUI Cases. To better understand how breath testing machines work, and more importantly why they do not always work, he has purchased several of his own and keeps a breath testing machine lab in his office.

He is the only Virginia DUI/DWI defense attorney known to have completed certification training on the Intoxilyzer 5000, S-D2, S-D5, 400, and 8000 and the ECIR II, and to have purchased several breath testing machines of his own. Every year he completes further specialized training on the legal, medical, and scientific principles that arise in DUI/DWI defense, and he regularly serves as a consultant on Virginia DUI/DWI law.

Mr. Wilson is also a member of the Virginia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and the Criminal Law Section of the Virginia State Bar. Clients come to him from across Virginia and from other states, and he has represented clients in more than 90 jurisdictions in the Commonwealth.

Mr. Wilson grew up in Lexington, Kentucky, graduated from the University of Kentucky, and graduated cum laude from the Syracuse University College of Law. After Syracuse he left New York and settled in Glen Allen, Virginia, where he studied for and passed the Virginia Bar Exam. He then joined a criminal defense firm in Manassas, representing clients accused of DUI/DWI, Reckless Driving, and other criminal offenses, before opening his own practice.
