Hired Law firm 1980This man took advantage of me. He snorted cocaine just before going before the judge and tried to get me to do the same. I was young and naive and he was my divorce lawyer. He told me it would not do any good to report it since his father was a judge and his brother was a lawyer. I kept my mouth shut but what he did has haunted me for over forty years. He has a chapter in my book.

Hired Law firm 2018Mr. Hoback is not a very sweet or tender individual but, he knows how to handle the courts. He saved my life.

Hired Law firm 1985-2002Don’t bother you can do a lot better...this guy will drop the ball and tell you pleading guilty is best I made a deal...charged me a lot to land me in jail on guilty deals even if I was innocent...serves the system well where lawyers appointed judges...what a bad idea Virginia wake up citizens... I moved away it was so bad there in Roanoke the real crooks were the courts where it’s all about revenues not public safety just look around at the Public offices and huge complexes built on your Billions...

Hired Law firm 2017-2018My experience with Mr. Hoback was wonderful from start to finish. This man truly cares about his clients and goes to bat in full force. His rates are very reasonable. In my opinion he is the best attorney in Roanoke and Salem. His honesty and integrity are priceless. He is a straight shooter, ask him a question and he will give you a straight answer no beating around the bush.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
