Overview
Since 2008, Amanda Reid has served clients in Fredericksburg and the surrounding areas, representing them in divorce, custody, visitation, support and adoption matters, and in all other facets of family law. Ms. Reid is also frequently appointed by the courts as a guardian ad litem to represent the best interests of children in custody cases, social services matters and other litigation.
Ms. Reid graduated cum laude from the University of Richmond School of Law, where she served as president of the Christian Law Fellowship and was actively involved in various community service activities. Her law school awarded her the Nina R. Kestin Service award for her outstanding contributions to the school, the community, and the legal profession. Ms. Reid remains active in the community today, sponsoring and supporting local entities such as Rappahannock Legal Services, Fredericksburg Parks and Recreation, and The Fredericksburg Lady Cardinals.
Before entering the legal profession, Ms. Reid earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy and political science from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. While attending Gonzaga, Ms. Reid worked for the Department of Social Services, where she supervised court-ordered parent-child visitation.
Prior to establishing the Law Offices of Amanda Anne Reid, PLC, Ms. Reid was an associate at the law firm of Strickland Kurylo PLC; from 2008 to 2010, she was a staff attorney at Rappahannock Legal Services. Ms. Reid also worked with the Kitsap County Prosecuting Attorney in Port Orchard, Washington, where she focused on misdemeanor and traffic cases, and with the Richmond City Attorney's Office, where she provided representation to the Department of Social Services. As a student at the University of Richmond School of Law, she participated in the Disability Law Clinic, representing children and parents seeking to enforce their rights under federal and state special education laws.
Ms. Reid currently serves as President of the Fredericksburg chapter of the Virginia Women Attorneys Association. She is also an active member of the Virginia State Bar, the Virginia Bar Association (Domestic Relations Section), the Fredericksburg Area Bar Association (Family Law Section and Guardian ad litem section), and the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association (Family Law Section).
