Attorney Information
Overview
Timera C. Drake handles cases in the areas of Administrative Law and Criminal Defense. Her passion and dedication to her craft makes her stand out when it comes to case outcomes for her clients.
Administrative Law is an expansive filed of law that encompasses all Washington state agencies and all federal agencies. Timera has limited her administrative practice to cases in the following areas: Workers' Compensation, Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act (claimant's side), unemployment benefits appeals, and Fish & Wildlife infractions and crimes. She wants to ensure that clients get all the state and federal benefits they are entitled to receive. She has the focus and patience to see these cases through to their conclusion, which sometimes takes years.
Timera's passion is Criminal Defense. She saw the effects of an inequitable criminal justice system growing up, and she wanted to level the playing field for individuals accused of a crime. Timera's criminal defense clients--most of whom have significant barriers to justice including poverty, homelessness, and mental illness--overwhelmingly see excellent outcomes in their criminal cases. Timera has worked in nearly all municipal, district, and superior courts in Seattle and South King County, and has worked in Pierce County Superior Court and District Court. Her criminal defense experience spans five years and hundreds of cases from Marysville to Tacoma. She has excellent working relationships with prosecutors and Judges, and other criminal defense attorneys throughout King County and the greater Seattle area.
In her criminal practice, Timera has gained extensive knowledge about the intersection of criminal law and mental illness, the intersection of domestic violence and criminal law, and international criminal law (The International Criminal Court, The Hague). She has taken courses overseas in European family law, and international criminal law. She is well-versed in several of The Hague Convention Treaties as they apply to child custody matters and war crimes.

Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.
How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
