My family and I recently worked with Mario. We were impressed with his representation in our case against my ex-business partner, who is also my brother. I often make a point to recognize extraordinary talent when I come across it. Mario is an extraordinary talent. Through most of my life, I’ve managed to dodge a great deal of conflicts by either walking away or by bullying my way through my adversaries, using any means available, fair or not. A few years ago, my father passed away. At this time, I decided to make some drastic changes in my life. I decided to be more thoughtful in the ways I treat others and try to lead by example. It’s ironic that while I have made a 180-degree turnaround in my life, I also encountered the greatest betrayal of my life, both personally and professionally. This was unchartered territory for me; in the past, I was often the one doing the perpetrating and not the one being taken advantage of. To make matters worse, I was conned by my brother. I was, therefore, susceptible to one low blow after another. I was dejected and hopeless until coming to the realization that a previous experience in life could help me through these trying times. Indeed, it did. A few years ago, I saw Mario in action when he represented as co-counsel one of my business partners. I was impressed with his work, especially his attention to detail. Mario has an ability to see a case from all angles, like Gary Peyton on the basketball court. If was going to fight the injustice levied against me, I would have to hire the best man for the job: Mario. I considered this case against my brother to be one of the most challenging times in my life. And consider this: I have survived a heart attack and braved the big seas as child boat refugee fleeing communist Vietnam on my way to freedom in the United States. Hell yes, Mario was the right man to hire. Please excuse my language but this is how my family and I feel about the guy. I needed to win the case against my brother; he had already taken so much from me and my family. Thankfully, we did win the case. To quote the late rapper Biggie Smalls: “I don’t have to worry about that, my attorney handled that!” I told Mario I would write him a glowing review, even though he did not ask for one. So here it is. It is fitting my 10-year-old son calls Mario “Super Mario.” If you are dealing with any of life’s legal obstacles that are too important to lose, call Mario. Having he and his team in your corner will give you the best fighting chance. He is worth every penny and then some!

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
