Verified ClientHired Attorney 2018-2022The most professional, intelligent, diligent and patient lawyer I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. I trust Emily completely. She deserves and is worth significantly more than she charges, a hard working brilliant legal mind and instantly likeable.

Verified ClientHired Attorney 2018-2019Emily was instrumental in assisting my in-laws with getting green cards when our family had some unexpected life events that made it important for them to move and stay in the US, without the luxury of advance notice or planning. In retrospect, attempting to navigate the immigration system without professional help would have been a nightmare. Specifically though, having Emily as our advocate made the process much less intimidating. Emily's expertise and perspective on the immigration system gave my wife and I confidence that this could all work out. She successfully helped them get green cards and start the process of becoming US citizens. She was patient and empathetic in answering all of our often overly nervous questions and extremely effective in helping our case move forward successfully. I can't speak highly enough of her.

We didn't know much about the process or what to expect but Emily was very helpful, informative and supportive along the way. She's experienced, knowledgeable and very easy to talk to. She really fought for us through some of the detours during the process and was always very responsive to our questions and concerns. We owe a successful process to her and all her help.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
