Verified ClientHired Attorney 2022If you want somebody who’s not going to advocate for you this is the guy you want. I hired mr. Harris because he supposedly has a background in criminal defense if that’s true I can guarantee you every single one of his clients are in jail. Despite me telling whoever it was that scheduled my consultation that I needed this case to be heard on the calendar date I don’t know if she pass that message along to him or not. So I pay for the consultation sit down have an hour conversation with this man. Only to be told well I was going to go ahead and ask for a continuance anyways so you can either stick with me or try to find someone else which probably won’t happen on such a short notice. OK so I stayed with him five days go by haven’t heard from him. I sent him an email stating hello sir even though we asked for a continuance I was wondering what our plan of attack is going to be not gonna lie I feel kind of ghosted haven’t heard from you since I paid for your retainer fee please don’t hesitate to call me. So not hearing from him since I paid him he responds to my email with a phone call and says “ if you want to be a rude dick you can take your money and go elsewhere I don’t need it“ lmao I can’t make this up. This guy literally did nothing the entire time he was representing me I will say this though Envision law firm refunded me back almost 100% of my money which I’m grateful for even though their lawyer was garbage. This guy got in front of the judge didn’t know what to say I’m sorry but he looked and sounded like a complete idiot look like he was trying to read my Declaration of off his computer monitor never argued legal statute never brought up the fact the petitioner lied under oath he completely rolled over and then had the audacity after completely screwing me to want to withdraw from the case. I wouldn’t recommend this guy to my worst enemy. From the very beginning I was nothing but enthusiastic and willing to work with him. I’m just curious how many of you family law attorneys think that if a GAL gets appointed that they only investigate one parent I’ll tell you the answer they always investigate both parents how can you come to a conclusion for what is best for children if you don’t this guy literally told me they would only investigate me LOL. Sorry Mr. Harris but what you did was reprehensible and completely screwed me and I’m only writing this to save some other poor sap the headache.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
