Attorney Information

Overview

Nicole’s practice focuses on estate planning, probate, administration of trusts and estates, and guardianship. Planning for death or declining health can be overwhelming for many. Nicole reduces stress by creating a thoughtful and comprehensive estate plan with the necessary tools to fulfill the client’s wishes that protect and prepare the clients and their families for life’s changes. In order to establish estate plans unique to each client’s needs, Nicole meets with the client to get to know the person, understand their family dynamics, and their desired outcomes. This may include a combination of wills, trusts, powers of attorney, business succession planning, and more.

Nicole helps families navigate the steps of estate administration by advising executors, trustees, attorneys-in-fact, guardians, and conservators to handle their duties and responsibilities. Many clients seek guidance on both simple and complex matters, including possible disputes, transfer of assets, complex relationships, and the payment of debts and expenses.

Nicole also serves as a professional personal representative for estates appointed by the court or by clients who do not have a family member or loved one to serve. Aging can be a challenge. Nicole helps families navigate the cumbersome and complex guardianship and conservatorship process when a loved one is unable to meet health, safety, and financial needs. This may include appointment by the court, meeting periodic reporting requirements, management of assets, and fulfilling duties and responsibilities to the individual. In addition to guardianship work for her clients, Nicole is a Pierce County Superior Court Title 11 Court Visitor.

Nicole values the fact she is an advocate, guide, and support system for her clients with a focus on solutions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
