    Hired Law firm 2019-2020
I hired him and he ruined my case deliberately because he was conspiring with my adversary. We found that very clearly in the text messages provided later in the case. The case barely started and he sent me the bill more than ten times what he expected the entire case fee to be before I hired him. He exaggerates in calculating his hours and the client has no way to dispute. He was a friend of my adversary exchanging text messages BEFORE he accepted me as a client violating the conflict of interest.

    Consulted Law firm 2021
I called Jesse and asked to help me to file an eviction lawsuit against the tenant .All paperwork was collected by another representative already. He asked me for my credit card before he would even look at my case: no less than $2000 His secretary assured me that they will not withdraw my money from the credit card unless we would sign the fee/client agreement. Luckily, the tenants moved out without the need for lawsuit or filing before Jessy and I signed the agreement. Unfortunately, his law firm still withdrawn the money from my credit card $2000 and didn’t return it.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
