Hired Law firm 2022Stay away from Jeff Scott Olson lawfirm! Stay far away from this law firm. Jeff Scott Olson told us he would take our case and took $7,500. This case has thousands of peoples life attached to it and he knew how important this case was and what it would take for this case. He kept making excuses like he's moving his office, he's on vacation, he doesn't have a legal aid. Blah blah blah! Every excuse but no action on what he was paid to do. Finally after like 8 months he tells us his law firm is not big enough to take the case. He refuses to give the money back. Said that he would give us a break down of what he did. He never gave us anything. He doesn't return phone calls and he's the biggest crook ever! Please find an honest attorney. We really believed in him too. I would give zero stars if I could! Extremely disappointed and out of a lot of money and whole year wasted. He knew what the case was when he took it. He should have known at the beginning it was to big for him. Since he couldn't do he should return the money but guess what he's not.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
