Attorney Stephen Govin has been a true blessing in my life. Facing a criminal felony drug charge is the toughest thing I have ever had to go through in my life. Experiencing the legal system for the first time attorney Govin spent adequate time explaining the process and potential outcomes of the charge. After realizing there was no motions to file, attorney Govin strategized at every turn leading up to sentencing which rendered a result better than I ever imaged possible. Attorney Govin's sharpness and attention to detail is why I had such amazing results. I highly recommend you put your trust in Attorney Govin and follow his advice during the period of time he is representing you.

Attorney Stephen Govin is an outstanding Defense Attorney. He represented our son in a two-count sexual assault case. The case went on for 23 months, and Attorney Govin never tired, was relentless, meticulous, and pursued every court hearing and motion like it was the first one. He worked very hard for us to the very end. Over the 23 months we sent many emails and made several calls to Attorney Govin, he was always there for us. He returned emails and calls very quickly, including his true thoughts and perspective on each one. He was very strategic and detailed throughout the entire process, explaining each step and approach that was taken. During the trial he was absolutely astonishing, he was focused and captured the attention of the jury during his witness questioning and especially during the closing arguments. He was in a zone and delivered his message flawlessly, hammering on vital points. He is on his way to becoming one of the best Defense Attorneys in the United States. We are very fortunate to have discovered and reached-out to Attorney Govin. Our son received not-guilty verdicts on both counts and the charges were acquitted. Our family will never forget his dedication and persistence through this ordeal.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
