It has been a few years since my custody battle. It was an open and shut case. I had always provided a stable home and life for my daughter who was 3 when I first filed with the court. Her Mom had decided to take a trip off the deep end and I wasn't about to let her take our daughter with her. My first attorney was awful and we parted ways after temporary orders. I hired a new attorney to take my case and thankfully found one of the best two in the state (Anne being the other). She worked tirelessly to show the judge the way things were. I had always taken care of my daughter, her mother had bounced around from place to place and struggled to hold down a job. Drinking, drugs, domestic violence and getting arrested were all part of her life. We played everything out for the judge to see and still suffered a devastating decision after permanent orders. Once the appeal gained traction I noticed a difference in the judges behavior. Not dramatic, but I could tell he was taking us seriously. In the end my daughter's mother was so out of control she lost any for of leverage she had and was lucky to end up with the stipulation we offered. Once it became the order the appeal was moot and God terminated. But I have no doubt in my mind that she was going to win that for me and my daughter. Anne is very intelligent, hardworking and focused. She was there any and every time I needed her and I will forever be in her debt.
