    Consulted Law firm 2022
    Recommends this Law firm
Excellent consultation with Attorney Bissonnette who was prepared and is clearly knowledgeable about family law. She made me feel incredibly respected, validated and intelligent with my knowledge of family law even though I'm not an attorney. Highly recommend hiring her to represent you. While I'm not pursuing a case at the moment, I know who to reach out to in the future.

    Hired Law firm 2019-2020
    Recommends this Law firm
I wish I could rate this law firm even higher! Attorney Frank A. May has gone above and beyond during our business with BPS. He was not only well-versed in up-to-date estate, medicaid, and elder care law, but he treated my in-laws with so much compassion and patience. Being a younger adult, I was out of my element as to their legal needs and Frank always walked me through things step by step and took the time to make sure I understood all the legal actions we were taking. I never felt rushed to make legal choices, and I appreciated the many hours of contact to make sure that my in-laws estate planning and medicaid application went smoothly.

Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
