Hired Law firm 2022I paid Erin 2000 dollars to represent me in my divorce and custody battle...Erin would not return my phone calls or would not get back to me in a timely manner...she only appeared in court for me and with me 1 time at which i was told to shut up when i tried to speak on my behalf when my then husband was speaking ill towards me...i was order to do a hair follicle and my husband was not..in mine and many others opinions..Erin should have spoke up and stated i would not be taking the test until both parties did so at the same time...further more i was sent to a testing facility that messed up my urine test then i was informed that the hair test was faulty and would need to retest..when i contacted the lab they informed me that they would not be responsible for the cost of their own mess up and was then given a result that stated i was dirty for meth from a sec sample i never gave them...after informing Erin that i was not happy with the way she was handling my case..she then threaten to quit..after speaking with her she stated she would stay on but that i was to needy...after the that meeting..she continued to allow my husband to harrasse me and our children without attempting to find a way to prohibit it...i was not enforced of meetings with his attorney nor was i informed of supposed paperwork to be signed with a proposed visiting arrangemen...i was forced to take measures to protect my children and myself without her even attempting to fight for us or represent me in a man or that best suited a favorable outcome..Erin then after only attending court 1 time for me withdrew from the case and took my money in full....i was left without legal representation and was forced to stand trial on my own and was threatened to be held in contempt of court several times and the judge allowed my husband to verbally banter me in court without even a bat of the eye...i was informed that Erin never filed any discovery paperwork or a proposed parenting plan on my behalf and even though both my children are 12 and 15 have been with me since we separated 3 yrs ago informed the court of their desire to stay with me..my husband won everything and i was put in a situation that was demeaning and very wrongfully tried..i was denied proper time to obtain a new lawyer and did not have the funds to do so...my husband was abusive and Erin and the courts allowed his abuse to continue..he now has my children throughout the school yr living with his gf and frauding the state..i informed everyone of this and they said it was not their problem..my children were in the end relocated to a new school ..have to share a room and another women is doing what i should be allowed to do ..i gave a different drug test and one on site proving i was clean...their father 1...it did not matter...all this attorney and the courts care about are their friendships out side of the court room and money...think twice B4 using Erin ..too needy..your a damn family attorney..what do u exspect..i hired you and you robbed me blindly and helped the other party rather then your client..i gave all i had and put my trust in your firm and Erin just to be felt like i did when I was getting the living crap beat out of me... defenseless and no where to turn to...shame on you for taking advantage of the less fortunate then you and breaking the trust i put into you ....

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
