Toledo Taxation Lawyer
Overview
Mark Mockensturm founded Mockensturm, Ltd in 1999. After graduating from law school in 1993, he worked for several firms in the Toledo area that specialize in employment litigation and real estate transactions. During that time people who learned of his training as a CPA sought his advice in their dealings with the IRS and other tax authorities. He was often able to help these people resolve their issues quickly and favorably. So in late 1999, Mark decided to offer his help to a list of people who recently received notice of IRS liens filings. The response was overwhelming and Mark soon found there was more work than he could handle on a part-time basis. Starting with one secretary, he started Mockensturm, Ltd. and moved into a building he purchased with a friend in downtown Toldeo. Within a couple of years, the practice outgrew that location and moved to its current location on Adams Street.
Mark believes that his success is due in large part to the excellent rapport he has built with his clients, the IRS and other tax agencies. He and his staff have built a reputation as effective and responsive representatives and this has earned them trust and cooperation from local tax authorities. However, those authorities also know that he and his employees will not hesitate to use every tool at their disposal to diligently represent their clients. There is no hesitation to use all available avenues of appeal, including litigation in US Tax Court and all Federal and State Courts.
Because of his success in tax representations, many of Mark's clients return for other legal services. Mark soon found that he needed additional legal staff to handle a range of other legal matters, including business transactions, real estate, probate, estate planning and many other financially relevant legal issues. Because he and his associates have a deep understanding of many economic issues, his firm soon earned the reputation as effective financial problem solvers. This skill set was also well suited to bankruptcy related matters when their clients need a new start.
As his practice has grown, Mark spends much of his time meeting and advising new clients and overseeing the work of his excellent staff. He considers himself extremely lucky to have brought together a group of smart, hardworking people who truly care about his clients and work together as a team. This approach ensures that all possible avenues of representation are thoroughly explored and the best, most cost-effective plan is implemented.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
