Hired Law firm 2023-2024I hired Attorney Marc Chavez to represent my son in a misdemeanor case in Texas. In the course of thirteen months that he represented my son, he did not act in the best interests of the client, my son; he failed to supply requested documents; he failed to adequately and clearly explain pertinent facts of the case; he was unresponsive to client’s inquiries and he failed to keep client upraised on case status. Because of all that, my son's case is in limbo.

Hired Law firm 2023I was wrongfully accused of a Title IX infraction. Marc is an exceptional listener and possesses the innate ability to ascertain facts from friction. After discussing my situation, Marc walked me through the Title IX process and explained how we should address the issue. Marc assisted in drafting a response letter to the adjudicate and coached me leading up to the interview. In the end, the accusation was not a Title IX issue, and flaws and false accusations in the claimant's testimony surfaced in which the case was ruled in my favor. I would not have known how to respond and properly defend myself without Marc’s assistance. Finally, Marc was always responsive and his fee for service was reasonable. The value of legal service with winning results is exceptional. Thank you, Marc.

Hired Law firm 2022-2023My family never expected to be in a situation that would require Marc Chavez, but from the first call, he was right there helping us through the whole process. He listened to us, laid out a plan, and was there to answer calls and text messages and emails as he led us through all of it. Marc understands the law and he understands the criminal justice system, and he used his knowledge, his connections, and extensive experience to get us the best possible outcome. Engaging Marc was absolutely the best decision we could have made and I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs serious legal counsel.

Hired Law firm 2022-2023Marc Chavez helped us through a difficult situation. He listened to our concerns, provided experienced advice and was available whenever we needed him to answer questions and give us emotional support. He is not your average attorney. He is compassionate toward his clients while maintaining a healthy skepticism in order to provide good judgment for working the case. His knowledge of the Title IX process was valuable and our family can’t thank him enough for helping us achieve a positive outcome. While we hope to never need his services again in the future, it is comforting to know that Marc is there to help us if we ever do.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
