Kim is unprofessional and does not return calls or emails. I got her by default after the lawyer I had quit or got terminated. I never met Kim, only received rude emails. This law firm has shown me their incompetence as they left me with a paralegal. I was left correcting all of the paperwork she had already filed so then an addendum had to be filed and that was wrong as well. They never sent papers to the courthouse until I called or emailed to ask why they had not received them. Save your time and money and go elsewhere.

I found Kim Lewis to be very difficult to work with. I did see all the bad reviews before I hired her and should have taken heed to it. I’m sorry I did not. I instructed her to handle something for me, but she did not do it. Why she didn’t do it when it was legal ethical, and the right thing to do; I guess I will never know. She knew I was in pain and taking a lot of meds, but she wasn’t compassionate at all. She insisted that I come to her office 3 days in a row knowing I was sick. Just not a kind person. Kim isn’t professional either; She would not return my phone calls. I never knew what was going on with my case. I finally had to call downtown to the clerks office to find out. I never felt so uncomfortable in a office. No one would speak, smile or offer you water. The young lady that was the receptionist made a smart remark to me, and I know that one of the attorneys told her to say that to me. Having worked at a law office when I was young I know for a fact that I would NEVER talked to a client like that unless my boss told me to do that. I am just happy that I don’t have to deal with any of them anymore.

Please read the reviews that provide information because they will ensure that you save your time and money. You will definitely get what you pay for with Ms. Lewis. I had hired her because my ex-wife decided to change our previous uncontested divorce and wanted to contest the separation agreement that we already had signed. I felt like Kim Lewis was getting paid by the OC because she could have done things differently in my case where it would have worked on my signed especially since there was an already signed separation agreement and no real circumstantial changes to our case. instead, she went ahead and agree to do anything and everything that the OC wanted to do. She was hired to represent me but it felt like I was not getting any representation at all. We were always on the defense when I was the one to file, I did most if not all the paper work prior to obtaining her. She was hired to ensure that my family stayed the way it was but she continuously went against my wishes and gave into what OC wanted. So if you hire her, please expect to lose your case, time and money. I would stay far far away from this attorney and law office. The representation I obtain was terrible and I had to obtain a new lawyer.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
